Typically, when we learn about a rear-end accident, we don’t expect to hear that anyone is seriously injured. These types of crashes usually happen when someone is driving slower and is at a red light or in bumper to bumper traffic. However, there are times when someone is driving fast when they crash into the back of someone else’s car. Sadly, this was the case this past week in San Antonio.
61-year old Rosalva Tamez was driving her Ford Fusion down the Southland lanes of West Ave. While she was traveling through the 3500 block of West Avenue, someone rear-ended the back of Tamez’ car.
The black Acura MDX that hit Tamez’ car was reportedly driving very erratically at the time of the accident. Witnesses said that they had seen the other car driving recklessly prior to hitting the back of the Ford Fusion. There was no statement released by the driver of the Acura as to what role they played in the accident.
When the Acura hit the back of her car, Rosalva Tamez’ car started to spin. It skidded sideways and ended up hitting a utility pole. By the time the police arrived at the scene, Tamez had already passed away. She was pronounced dead at the scene by the authorities.
In a case like this, a thorough investigation will be done. The police need to see what caused the Acura to crash into the back of the victim’s car. They aren’t sure if the other driver was texting and driving or was possibly under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The investigation is ongoing at this time. So far, no charges have been filed.
