Police in Houston responded to a multi-vehicle crash on the Northbound lanes of Interstate-45 this afternoon that left one victim pinned against a wall. The crash happened just after 3 pm on Thursday, May 7, 2020. The initial reports indicated that there were at least 5 cars involved in the crash. One of these was a big rig.
Video of the aftermath of the multi-vehicle crash was posted online. In the video, it’s clear that a number of civilians were gathered along the shoulder of the highway waiting for the authorities to investigate the accident scene. In the video, you can see an 18-wheeler with the company name, “Raider Express”, near the shoulder. A black passenger vehicle was pinned between the tractor trailer and the wall along the side of the highway.
Immediately following the accident, the police and rescue crews had to shut down all lanes on the North side of the Interstate. They had to send hazmat crews out to clean up the wreckage of the crash. It appears that the crash left debris across the entire Northbound lanes.
Within an hour or so, the police were able to open one lane to thru-traffic. At that time, they did not indicate whether anyone had been injured or killed in the accident. In the video that was posted, there are no ambulances or fire trucks on the scene. However, there’s no way of knowing for sure if any arrived on the scene after the fact.
The names of the individuals involved in the crash have not been released. The investigation is still ongoing, and more details will likely be released in the near future.
