It’s not often that the police have to respond to a late night boat accident. Usually, this sort of thing happens in the afternoon or early evenings. However, this past week in Brownwood, things worked out a bit differently.
At about midnight on May 28, 2020, rescue crews in Brownwood were called to an accident at Lake Brownwood. Apparently, a Ranger Fish and Ski Boat was out on the lake late at night. There were 7 people on-board. For some reason, the boat collided with a concrete retaining wall.
There were no other boats near the scene of the collision. The police aren’t sure what could’ve caused the crash. However, what they do know is that all seven people on the boat were injured in the crash. They were all transported to the hospital to be treated for their injuries.
There were 5 females on the boat ranging from 18-years old to 22-years old. There were also 2 males on-board. The men were aged 22 and aged 32. No names have been released at this time. The authorities also have not indicated who was driving the boat at the time of the accident.
Thankfully, there were no other boats or watercrafts involved in the crash. At this time of night, there wouldn’t normally be anyone else on Lake Brownwood. The police are still investigating the incident. They have teamed up with the Texas Game Wardens and the local Fire Department to determine what happened.
The passengers on the boat may very well have a legal claim against the boat’s owner or driver. It depends on what the ongoing investigation reveals. The police haven’t indicated if impairment played a role in the accident.
