The police in Harris County had their hands full when they responded to a tragic crash in Houston in the wee hours of the morning this past weekend. At about 2:30 am on Friday, June 5, Houston police were called to the intersection at Loch Katrine Lane in Houston. When they got there, they saw just how tragic the crash was.
A Hummer was traveling through the intersection when the driver lost control of his vehicle. He slammed into a BMW being driven by a 16-year old boy from Houston. The BMW was hit so hard, it ended up spinning across the road and proceeded to hit a utility pole.
There were three young men in the BMW at the time of the crash. The driver, a 16-year old local boy and an 18-year old backseat passenger were critically injured in the accident. They were both transported to the local hospital with serious injuries. Another 16-year old boy was in the backseat as well. His name was Tristan Sanders. Sadly, he was injured so badly in the crash that he ended up passing away.
The BMW was hit so hard that it split in half. The police said they could barely recognize the vehicle when they arrived at the scene.
The man driving the Hummer was speeding at the time of the crash. He was also arrested and charged with DUI. 47-year old Carlos Ayala refused a breathalyzer at the scene. Blood tests are pending. When the results come back, the police believe they will be charging him with more than just DUI.
Sanders had just moved to the Houston area to attend a new high school. He was a rising football star at the local high school and will be missed.
