An employee at the Cooper Tire plant in Texarkana died Tuesday from injuries suffered when a piece of equipment fell on him.
Benjamin Butler, who was injured just after 9 a.m., was rushed to a Texarkana hospital but efforts to save him were unsuccessful.Members of the local United Steelworkers Union said Butler had worked at the plant for about 28 years. He was working overtime Tuesday on his day off when the accident happened, they said.
A plant spokesman said this was the first accident in the Texarkana plant's 42-year history that has resulted in a death.
